HTML-Background
One popular way to dress up an HTML document is to add a background image. A background image is a graphics file that is visible under the document text. Using a background can help provide continuity to adocument, or it can also serve to differentiate the various pages.
Most background images are small and are tiled across the viewer window like wallpaper. Images of textures are particularly popular for this purpose; bricks, marble, and cloth are often seen on HTML documents. Most of these serve only to fill in the blank space on the document, though. More interesting documents have a background that fits the theme of the page.
Other types of wallpaper that can make a document look good include a corporate logo or other image. These should be very subdued, almost monochrome, so as not to interfere with the foreground text or distract from your document's message. One way to accomplish this is to emboss an existing image using a graphics program.
